Celebrating 'The Year of Accessible Tourism'
The Esk Caravan Park team is dedicated to enhancing our park, making it an even more exceptional and accessible destination for all our guests. We believe that perfection is a journey, not a destination, and are committed to continuous accessibility improvements, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the full spectrum of experiences on offer.
Current Accessibility Enhancements:
Accessible Powered Sites: We have designated accessible powered sites with astroturf surface and 1.8m wide paths that connect directly to key facilities like the Camp Kitchen and Pool areas.
Accessible BBQ Area: Our pet-friendly alfresco area includes DDA-compliant high tables, an Accessible BBQ, ample space around tables, and easy-to-navigate ground surfaces.
Accessible Bathroom: Our new accessible bathroom features grab rails and a shower bench, catering to the needs of guests with diverse abilities.
Accessible Pool Hoists: We have installed accessible pool hoists (with chair or sling) in both family and adult-only pools. Guests can request pool hoists from on-duty staff members, ensuring everyone can enjoy water-based activities.
Access Training for Staff: Our front-of-house employees receive comprehensive access training to provide knowledgeable and supportive assistance to guests.
Proactive Assistance: Our grounds and guest services staff actively assist guests with special needs, ensuring proximity to accessible amenities and help with caravan setup.
Future Projects in 2024:
Accessible Pathways: We are implementing new 1.2m wide accessible pathways with minimal gradient to seamlessly connect the pool and camp kitchen facilities to existing accessible bathroom facilities.
Compliant Accessible BBQs & Seating: We will install compliant accessible BBQs and seating in the Camp Kitchen undercover entertainment space to provide a comfortable, all-weather, and inclusive area for all guests.
Our friendly team is here to assist you in any way possible. Regular training ensures our staff is well-equipped to meet diverse needs, fostering a welcoming and informed environment for all our guests.
We're proud to share that we received tourism grant funding from the Australian Government via Austrade, and we’re deeply grateful for this support which has afforded us the opportunity to bring our vision to be more accessible for travellers of all abilities to life.
